LIGHT UP THE FIREWORKS

Lazuli seems… agitated, this morning. Not so much in the sense that he’s irritable (because that's just normal, really), but it seems as if something has gotten under his skin. He keeps looking up, out the windows or out over the horizon, and it seems eventually he grows tired of whatever it is bothering him. He accosts whoever it is that seems to have little to do this day, gathering a group of competent (...?) wizards.

“I need you to come with me,” he says, arms crossed and a furrow between his brows. “Something’s not right, even more than things usually aren't right.”

Vague, but do you really have the option to ignore him? You can certainly try, but it won’t get you anywhere. You’re being dragged onto this impromptu excursion whether you want to go or not. Lazuli drags the group to the elevator, using a mana stone to transport everyone to the Northern tower. On the other side is the same snowy wasteland that’s always there, and nothing seems amiss no matter how hard you strain your senses. Lazuli seems to get even more tense, though, summoning and mounting his broom.

“Follow me. We can talk while we fly, but we don’t have long.”

🌙 Welcome to the mini-event! This isn't going to be anything too crazy and not likely to impact the trajectory of the game too terribly if you spend the entire thing just fucking around and finding out, so just have fun! If you play your cards right, though, you might find yourselves a new ally.

[It's a book that seems very, very well-loved, that someone took care to keep preserved for decades...

But asides from that, it's a book! Probably a good idea to take it with him.]

[He sure can! The ramp seems to hold, but as he approaches he sees it eventually ends at a sharp drop, the connection long since broken. Another level is above him, but is currently inaccessible.]

[There is nobody inside of the buildings, all of them quite empty, but in one of the videos he does seen another blue crystal, similar to the one Malice found but a bit larger in size.]

[He can pick it up! It's larger, and a bit heavy, but it's not unwieldy by any stretch, nor does it seemed to be cursed or have any magical signature at all.

And like the piece Malice found, it looks like it is missing pieces.]

[ Time to lug around this rock, he guesses... Kurapika isn't really muscular though, so he's having a bit of trouble carrying this around.

He spots Ithaqua walking around and— ]

[To which Ithaqua notices even with his sniffing around. He just didn't bother doing anything until Kurapika outright approaches--]

Bit too heavy for you? [Look, he can't judge people's strength by their looks because, look at him, but...

He's noticed that he's the most fit out of everyone here.

So he takes the crystal anyway and tilts his head at it.]

I do hope you made sure it's not cursed before passing it on to me.

[ He looks a bit relieved when Ithaqua takes it. Honestly, Kurapika is really only built for moving like a gymnast, not lifting and carrying heavy rocks. ]

Too late. You're cursed now.

[ He smiles. ]

Just kidding. I checked before I even thought about approaching it.

[Yes, and it doesn't look pretty in there. It's hard to tell whatever this structure was before, as it seems like much of what's inside of it has been scrapped and taken away for use in the settlement. It's very, very empty and very, very dangerous.]

[If his mask wasn't on, Kurapika would have seen him rolling his eyes.]

Still, too heavy for you. Ah well, I suppose I shall be the pack mule. All of you are lacking in strength.

[For the most part, they're empty, though some have a few sips remaining.

If Comet takes a sniff, they'll easily pick up the scent of alcohol. Seems there was a party and none of them were invited.]

Would any of the rubble be promising to use to try to bridge the gaps between the ramp portions?]

[Possibly, but it would take a lot of magic to get it to work... which is to say this is a dead end, time to head back to the party.

As he heads down, though, he'll catch the glint of something blue in the rubble by the base of the ramp.]

If you had stamina, you would have been able to carry this.

In any case, what else have you found from this?

This was all I saw looking through the buildings.

Hmm. Strange, then, that only these few trinkets survived whatever it is that happened here.

[Is literally sniffing about the place and digging around, after taking the stone from Kurapika. Are there any people's remains in here, and what visible evidence of the possible disaster that happened here are what he's looking for in particular.]

[It's a very small shard of blue crystal, only visible because of the light hitting it! Probably a good idea to take it with him.]
