He trusts the castle-- he told me as much in the past. However, I do not, and as there are two wizards recuperating in the castle, that shan't be the best place for the stone. [They were already absorbed into one stone, what happens if they share space with another, larger one?]

The castle would want to take custody of the stone, would they not? Which puts the wizards in danger. I created that barrier to protect the inhabitants, but there's not much it can do if the danger is within.
