LIGHT UP THE FIREWORKS

Lazuli seems… agitated, this morning. Not so much in the sense that he’s irritable (because that's just normal, really), but it seems as if something has gotten under his skin. He keeps looking up, out the windows or out over the horizon, and it seems eventually he grows tired of whatever it is bothering him. He accosts whoever it is that seems to have little to do this day, gathering a group of competent (...?) wizards.

“I need you to come with me,” he says, arms crossed and a furrow between his brows. “Something’s not right, even more than things usually aren't right.”

Vague, but do you really have the option to ignore him? You can certainly try, but it won’t get you anywhere. You’re being dragged onto this impromptu excursion whether you want to go or not. Lazuli drags the group to the elevator, using a mana stone to transport everyone to the Northern tower. On the other side is the same snowy wasteland that’s always there, and nothing seems amiss no matter how hard you strain your senses. Lazuli seems to get even more tense, though, summoning and mounting his broom.

“Follow me. We can talk while we fly, but we don’t have long.”

🌙 Welcome to the mini-event! This isn't going to be anything too crazy and not likely to impact the trajectory of the game too terribly if you spend the entire thing just fucking around and finding out, so just have fun! If you play your cards right, though, you might find yourselves a new ally.

Well, we are not going to be seeing anything else just by standing around.

[Jing Yuan continues approaching the structure, and it feels like he crosses some sort of threshold because, abruptly, he hears a ringing in his ears and his head throbs. His vision blurs, and when it clears...

Color has returned to the world, but not much. The ground around him is rocky and black, and the structure is a deep, rusty red, with something black coiled around it like an elaborate facade.]

[He's watching Jing Yuan from a distance, does he notice anything change once Jing Yuan crosses that threshold?]

[ Jing Yuan shakes his head just a bit at that. ]

Did anyone else feel that? Did you...?

Red, huh? And black. This is quite odd in a myriad ways, enough to have made him stop for a moment. Does this building even have a door? ]

[ Luckily there seems to be no attacking as of yet, but he doubts that will not remain for long. ]

[They can't see the others, at least not right now. Or hear them, either.

It feels like they have crossed over to somewhere else entirely.]

Well, failing the spot check did not happen exactly, he was just...looking in the wrong direction or something, it's fine. ]

We should probably see if the others will come over before going any further.

That would be most unfortunate. I suppose worst comes to worst and we do not see them cross over at a certain time, we can attempt to retrace our steps.

But, you also ask a good question. We are quite capable individuals, after all.

[ Jing Yuan apparently is joining him in keeping the mood light too, because he is just that type of person.

[The knife disappears over that threshold, out of the view of Kurapika, and it's truly unfortunate that Jing Yuan and Malice don't know it's been thrown. Maybe if they could, they would have been able to dodge it...

Alas, they don't know it's coming until the knife nails Malice right between his shoulder blades, bouncing off and clattering to the ground. Between all of the protection spells and it still being sheathed, it's not a devastating injury, but he definitely did just get hit.]

[Malice sure saw it too! Anyone who crosses over with them, will, too, which they might want to, because from Ahito's perspective Jing Yuan and Malice have disappeared.

Also, it doesn't seem like there's a door, but it seems like there's a spiraling ramp on the outside of the structure.]
