[Sure enough, there’s a gathering of teens (and maybe some not-so-teens?) to be found in the bar! While the posting mentions this is a teen only event, adults are in fact allowed as long as they are cool. OOCLY please be aware there are going to be teens drinking alcohol and possibly smoking! Also additionally, please let the teens/players have fun; again, adults are allowed but only if they’re cool enough to play along without snitching them out!

All party game top levels are going to be made under Ahito’s account but please assume ICly that Akira instigated/explained them! Once the game toplevels are up you can also post your own toplevels to mingle freely if you like IDK IT’S A PARTY HAVE FUN]

Essentially, yes. I also grew up in an isolated village in the middle of the woods. Formal schooling wasn't exactly an option there, though we had plenty of books to read.

Given how much of spellcraft lies in dead languages and then some, I would say so, yes?

I suppose knowing the languages of the neighboring countries is helpful as well, when one isn't on the best terms with their own.

My world operates on a Common language spoken throughout most countries, but my people spoke their own language. If I were to travel anywhere, I had to learn Common first.

I traveled a lot with my mother when I was young. We never stayed in one place for long. Only when I grew older did I understand why, but even back then I knew I shouldn't draw any excess attention to myself.

We had a common language too, of course. Still, having an obvious accent in times when tensions are high ... well, there are consequences to such things, I'm sure you can imagine.

[ That makes sense. Only fully understanding the why of something once you're an adult and out of that context makes looking back a bit strange. ]

There are. I've been regarded with suspicion before for my own accent, up until I was able to blend in more seamlessly. There really are few languages in my world, so anyone with an accent is typically regarded with some suspicion.

That makes sense. The continent I was born in has gone through at least a couple of historical unifications and schisms by now, so while for the most part the three major countries are still mutually intelligible to each other... Well.
