[ Tatara opens his mouth to say something, but a piece of burning wall clattering to the ground nearby reminds him of time and place.

So he nods. Not like he doesn't trust him. ]

[ He'll let go and gently put his foot back down. ]

[ their surroundings are literally burning up around them, but some part of khun couldn't feel more at peace, honestly. well, maybe peace isn't the right word but in his element? even if he is also hyperaware, definitely noting that tatara's ankle seems to be healed.

when they've been around the manor he's definitely left one of his lighthouses by the OG sage, so he takes a moment just to connect with it. ]

He's fine for now. Someone should—[ go to protect him, and it's honestly his first inclination but- he can sense someone's already on their way, though he can't pick up their magical signature yet. ]

Let's get outside first, we can regroup with whoever is on their way to protect him from a safer route if needed. [ because their current location is you know, not looking Great. he summons his lighthouse and without asking he'll lift tatara onto it and then hop on himself.

you know those airline safety videos where they go "make sure your mask is secured before you secure someone elses?" he would fail that, but it's fine because his priorities are immutable at this point. ]

[ That gets a firm nod. It's probably better they get out before another piece of the manor falls on them and they're both hurt even worse.

He'll let Khun put him on the lighthouse, and he quickly holds onto him once he's up himself. He probably doesn't need to hold on at this point, and the lighthouse is probably big enough that he can stand or sit on his own, but it's a habit at this point.

He's unusually quiet.

His gaze turns upwards towards the threads, stretching into the distance. ]

[ khun doesn't mind of course, he zips them out of the manor in relatively short order so it's probably for the best that tatara's holding on regardless.

he's also quiet, but that's natural when he's focusing like he is now. ]

Hm? I doubt it's coincidental.

[ Tatara's gaze wanders to the mech, to the ruined manor, and he purses his lips. ]

You might be right.

[ Especially if this guy was involved in the explosion in the East, like Ahito said... ]

It'd be the real last chance anyone would have to make their move, if we get the original wizards back from this.

[ alright, now that they're far enough away from collapsing ceilings, khun reaches out to his lighthouse again. he's able to focus more and when he senses who the two people are at the old sage's room, he doesn't bother to hide his frown. ]

Looks like there's two people already protecting the old sage: Ginger and Mika.

...even if I was inclined to help them, I doubt it would be a good use of my time because our synergy would be terrible. And they'll prioritize each other over anything and anyone else.

[ he knows this because he is exactly the same. ]

[ Tatara's expression is even when he nods. There aren't a lot of people he would grimace at knowing they were looking after the sage, and Ginger and Mika are not among them. The sage is probably in good hands.

That said, he knows who works and doesn't work. ]

It's also our last chance to make our move. [ They theoretically have several full moons until the calamity but...he doesn't want to wait that long.

He draws his gaze up to Khun, polished coral glinting. ] So we can leave them be. I trust them to do their job.

Could I ask you to do something else, then?

What is it? [ his blue is even, open, as he meets tatara's gaze.

he'd agree to almost anything, but he still wants to hear the request first. ]

Putting the sage back together should take priority.

[ Khun obviously heard him shout right after the blast, but he's just voicing his train of thought. ]

The sage himself is probably safe, and I know plenty of the wizards will be happy to fight that thing. But you— [ He pauses, stares into Khun's eyes, and the rest of his request should be obvious at this point. ] I know you're capable. You should follow one of those threads. I know you can handle whatever's at the end.

I'll take the thread that connects to the Western wizards, I know that country better than anyone else here. [ they just Vibe and always have.

though khun wouldn't mind fighting that thing either, he really does feel like he's getting rusty not seeing the combat he usually would here. but there's something he prioritizes more than that, which is why he doesn't suggest it. ]

What about you? I don't want to leave you here with everything else going on.

[ Tatara quickly scans the area. If he were normal he'd be upset that their piece of home was destroyed, the place they worked so hard to make their own. But magic can fix it, and he's not bothered, so he can think normally. ]

I want to make sure the other threads are covered, then. [ He looks back up at Khun. ] Can you fly me around really quick just to check in on everyone?

Then I'll go with you.

Yeah, of course. I'll grab someone else to come with me to West because we have the numbers to send two people to each, at least. [ it's slight, but he eases just the slightest bit knowing they'll get to stick together. ultimately he would have gone off on his own if that's what tatara really wanted, but he would have been none too happy about it.

and while he registers the manor is on fire, he has everything (everyone) he really cares about at his side, and they can rebuild it if they need to regardless. the way he leans back, a quick brush of contact is his way of saying thank you, and then he's back into focused mode, his lighthouse moving to fulfill the request. ]
