[ There's a small laugh at that, because Day supposes Phil has a point. He can still remember plenty about those encounters, even.

He bites his thumb until he breaks the skin, then swears blood on the nape of Phil's neck, drawing the sign of Venus (♀︎). ]

Under the auspices of Venus, the hand of fate shall move for this man, if only once. Let it be known that he is mine, and I won't let anyone touch him.

...Please, bring my beloved back home to me, no matter what hardship awaits him. Even if there's always an ending, it is not yet time to give into the torment of the hunt.

Amor manet.

[ For some reason, it feels easier for Day to ask for the spirits' favour, unlike the first time he did this and it drained him of his magic almost instantly. A ring of blue stardust gathers around Phil's neck like a stellar necklace, along with a now-familiar feeling of enduring affection. The same as the nights where they cuddle to sleep, or when Day steals a kiss from Phil while he's absorbed in a book.

Then, the stardust disperses, though the feeling lingers for a while. ]

[The hairs on the back of Phil's neck rise briefly as he feels something happen-- a sudden cool tingle followed by a spread of gentle warmth originating from the back of his neck where Day brushed that smear of blood, his finger tracing a pattern on the skin there. It's strange and foreign and yet comforting at the same time, like the warmth of a familiar blanket, but most importantly it feels like Day, and as long as Phil can hold tight to that he thinks he'll be all right no matter what happens.

And then Avrae immediately decides to hate him and there goes the spell, RIP]

I wish I had your talent for that sort of thing, but I'm afraid you may have to settle for a good luck kiss instead of a spell. Hopefully that will be an acceptable substitute.

[Not that he thinks Day will actually complain, but. He does wish his abilities on the support front were a bit stronger.]

[ Day pulls back to heal his finger as well as dispel the magic of his outfit, returning to his usual clothes. He leans to rest his chin on Phil's head. ]

Always. [ He'll never turn down a kiss from Phil. ] Maybe I could try teachin' you, some other time. [ A plan for the future, despite the situation they're in. ]

[mirristry]

Just know that I'll hold you to that.

[This is neither the time nor the place for long moments of intimacy, but he steps a little closer to lean his own head against Day's chest just long enough to allow himself to hear that heartbeat that's become so familiar to him over the past few weeks.

There's still much to look forward to, after all.]

[ Day is fully aware there are more pressing things for them to handle, so they can't do this for long. He still lets Phil rest against him for a while, soaking in the affection for a bit longer and letting it anchor before he finally pulls back.

Right, this isn't going to be the last time they'll get to do this. ]
