Personally, I don't think he should die. Guy oughta live to suffer the consequences of his choices. 'Course, if we can squeeze anythin' useful out of this guy that'd be great too.

[ There are a few other nuances to this opinion, but Day doesn't think he needs to explain all of them since a few relate more to his principles than anything particularly relevant to their circumstances. ]

Buuuut if y'all decide he's better off dead, I ain't gonna stop anyone.

... I agree.

[Phil has extremely personal reasons for saying this, ha ha! Not the least of which is that he'd prefer not to feel as though he has any more blood on his hands despite everything this man may have done to them.]

He's no wizard, merely a human. It should be simple enough to keep him imprisoned somewhere until he has atoned for what he has done.

[ he's just going to peer curiously over here like. day's motivations make sense. phil using the word atonement is a little more interesting. ]

Agreed.

[Surprisingly.]

Atonement doesn't matter if the one who has done the wrong has no regrets, or has no desire to change. If he seeks clemency simply for existing, then that isn't repentance. That is a second chance in blind faith. And we would be fools to be blind.

Consider the fact that he was willing to go for Oz. Had he been successful, the level of destruction he would have been capable of, in or out of his control, would be on such monumental levels that he could have very well been considered a calamity in and of itself, were anything to go wrong or were he to have delusions of grandeur. God forbid that that level of power be taken by the Calamity itself, either.

Is that something this man would reconsider? And if not, then are we the ones to make the choice of what to do, or do we allow the justice of this world to decide for him?
