[ Ginger tilts his head - so precisely what the man deserves, but. It’s always the ‘but’ that confuses Ginger. In the end, he just nods. Day’s choice is Day’s choice. ]

[ It's the tilt that clues Day in that Ginger's confused, which is why he adds this, though he gets that Ginger accepts his choice regardless. This is, of course, just his personal feelings on the matter. ]

If...I give in to the desire to have him hurt that badly, I don't think I can call myself a Joybringer anymore. [ And despite everything, being a Chosen of Venus, and what that means to him, are as much a part of him as anything else in his life. ] So I won't choose it.

[ There is, it seems, a distinct line drawn in Ginger’s mind. Whatever hurt that human would feel would be entirely his fault, indirectly at his own hand, directly decided by his own actions. ]

I don’t think there’s a right or wrong answer for this, just solutions that will be more or less effective. For example, I don’t think containing him will do much. Once he gets out, he’ll just reoffend again and again.

[ Ginger knows the type. He’s an officer after all. ]

If Joybringing is important to you, then let it remain that way. But I would - if I were you - consider what your actions will be for next time, if you can’t be so hands off.

[ Huh. He does note that there's that distinction drawn in Ginger's mind, because honestly, Day wouldn't (and doesn't) view it that way, but it kind of goes to show the difference in perspectives. ]

I hope… Day, I hope you will always be able to have a choice in the matter. I don’t know if I’d be able to kill him myself, though it’s easy to say. There’s always going to be a part of me that wants to protect all of what God loves.

[ And Ginger loves Mika who was once human. He loves (he thinks, though he’s never said) Day who hasn’t lost his human roots. ]

[ Day himself knows that, despite some stark moments where he isn't entirely sure how to feel, he still loves Ginger, though in a different way from what it started as. If he ever says it, it won't be out where people can hear it, like how he hasn't held Ginger's hand outside of their rooms. ]

We'll see. [ A smile. Day personally thinks it might be inevitable, short of him ever having an uneventful life—and that isn't happening any time soon. ] But I'm glad you still have that part of you.
