do you believe in magic in a shared bath's heart?
The bath at the mansion really is extensive -- probably more extensive than a lot of them have seen, considering there are literally multiple pools of varying temperatures, probably statues and indoor plants or something for atmosphere, steam rooms, complimentary bath things (everything in the manor is kind of complimentary but shshhh) and whatnot.
On this particularly fine and nondescript day, though -- there's a bit of a commotion whenever you wander in butt-naked for your soak or whatever you like to do in here (you can hang from the ceiling like a bat or something we ain't the judge of you); there's two enterprising wizards flitting about poking at things.
The thing with πͺ Cid Kagenou πͺ is that he is Very Into Baths, and Very Into Magic, and thus the Bath Magic is one of the few areas where even his li'l old self can shine. Or not shine, given that they've all been here for 2.5 days (extremely rough estimate) and the miracle is nobody has blown up the mansion trying magic yet. But there is definitely magic happening! Since there's already steam and everything.
And then there's π Yamato π. Yamato is Here and enabling himself by watching Cid experiment with various things in the area. Initially he probably would've tried to stop him, but seeing what Cid's been doing has made him want to try some magic experimentation of his own. Pairing a teenager who kind of knows what he's doing with a man who has no idea what's going on makes it even more of a miracle that the mansion has not been blown up yet.
But if you look even closer, you'll spot various small differences:
............. Enjoy your bath!
(OOC: This is backdated to before the South mission so South Wizards get in on the fun too!)

But if you look even closer, you'll spot various small differences:
π all of the water has bubbles in it; the hot bath in fact looks like it has small duck-shaped bubbles just sort of trundling along, occasionally a duck pops and releases a puff of scented air (scents may vary at your discretion)
π the cold water bath keeps turning different colors, maybe they should stop experimenting with it before somebody ends up blue for the week
π some of the statues and potted plants have been slightly altered; nothing too outrageous, but at least one or two statues have been turned into roomba replicas and there's a potted plant with leaves that look like people in the manor's faces in miniature
π the steam room is letting out an intermittent screaming noise that sounds very human, but there's no one in it
π some of the bath soaps are extremely bright and keep on changing colors, as if they were colored like a disco ball (rave! in the bathhouse!)
............. Enjoy your bath!

His love for his vacuum...
[ Heh. That's kind of funny. ]
You know, I'd like to see him try it myself.
no subject
I wouldn't mind watching either. If he can figure it out, maybe he can teach me how to charge the battery in my phone, too.
[Two very different reasons...]

Kurapika get better interests challenge... ]
I wonder if your phone would work at all here. If it does, I'd be almost jealous that mine didn't come with me.
[ He took it out of his pocket before he was zapped up here. :( Boo. ]

I doubt my service provider would reach here, but maybe I could do something about it with magic?
[Time to construct a magic phone network that connects everyone's devices so they can spam stupid texts at each other at ass o'clock in the morning!!!]
no subject
I think it would be worth a try. It would be a good test on the limits and confines of our powers. Can we create something that doesn't exist at all here?
no subject
Anyways, she's sold on the idea. Besides, what's the worst that could happen? (laugh track)]
And we might even be able to make devices for everyone else. I'm so used to having my phone with me that I forget how inconvenient it is to get in touch without it.
no subject
So do I.
[ Says the guy who ignores a good portion of his phone calls—
Anyway. ]
It would be nice to have an easier method of communication. Even if phones specifically don't work, we might trip into something else that does.
no subject
Also answer your calls, buddy!! You never know when it might be an important message about invading nazis or something]
Hmm, like a pair of conch shells? If it uses magic, then whether it was designed for communication or not might not matter.
no subject
Maybe one day he'll answer! But it certainly isn't until he gets hit over the head with character development! ]
Conch shells... You know, that reminds me. I got a shell that's capable of recording sounds, and you can listen back when you put it up to your ear.
[ Shells really wouldn't be a bad idea. ]
I think there's a basis for what we're wanting to do here, so long as we don't run into a barrier with real-time communication.
[ Which might be their downfall here, but hey, it's fun to think about anyway. ]
no subject
hits him with a roll of newspaper instead, that's almost like character development right!!]
Oh, so it's like a tape recorder... that's pretty cute!
[It's almost like something out of a fairy tale, actually!
until it turns out to be lobelias and they regret listening to itThis does seem encouraging though, for what it's worth.]
Right. Even creating something like a walkie-talkie would still be a big step forward!
no subject
and yes that's totally character development!! ]
I think so. Range isn't all that important, as even communicating across the mansion could really be to our benefit...
[ No more having to run around. ]
no subject
[Given the whole shell phone thing will need to take some time anyway.]
no subject
[ Will he use it. No, but it'll be good for information gathering (being nosy). ]
Would you like to go to town sometime and look for materials?
no subject
Sure! It can't be that hard to set one up, right?
[famous last words that end with someone's head stuck through a piece of corkboard but it's fine they have magic!!]
no subject
I don't think so. All we need is some sort of corkboard, as well as something we can stand it up on.
no subject
Sounds like a plan! I'll be counting on you then, Kurapika-kun.
[but then people bleed out and then missions happen so she forgets about this until a later week ig!!!]
no subject
And I'll be counting on you as well, Maya.
[ and we can wrap hereπ ]
