LIGHT UP THE FIREWORKS

Lazuli seems… agitated, this morning. Not so much in the sense that he’s irritable (because that's just normal, really), but it seems as if something has gotten under his skin. He keeps looking up, out the windows or out over the horizon, and it seems eventually he grows tired of whatever it is bothering him. He accosts whoever it is that seems to have little to do this day, gathering a group of competent (...?) wizards.

“I need you to come with me,” he says, arms crossed and a furrow between his brows. “Something’s not right, even more than things usually aren't right.”

Vague, but do you really have the option to ignore him? You can certainly try, but it won’t get you anywhere. You’re being dragged onto this impromptu excursion whether you want to go or not. Lazuli drags the group to the elevator, using a mana stone to transport everyone to the Northern tower. On the other side is the same snowy wasteland that’s always there, and nothing seems amiss no matter how hard you strain your senses. Lazuli seems to get even more tense, though, summoning and mounting his broom.

“Follow me. We can talk while we fly, but we don’t have long.”

🌙 Welcome to the mini-event! This isn't going to be anything too crazy and not likely to impact the trajectory of the game too terribly if you spend the entire thing just fucking around and finding out, so just have fun! If you play your cards right, though, you might find yourselves a new ally.

[Okay he was teasing the others, but now his whole attention is on the little kitty. So this is what they've been working on, eh? He seems real enough, capable of taking healing like the beast he assisted before.

So he'll... just watch with fascination first and shadow the man where he goes like a silent guardian. And trying not to be too focused on his cute ears and tail.]

Well. It's far from the worst thing someone has said around him, so it's easy enough to brush off for now.]

[His ears twitch and his ear sways as he gets up to his feet properly.]

[Ithaqua crouches down before him-- their difference in height is such that, if he were to merely lean, the little kitty would still crane his neck to look at Ithaqua's face. Rather, mask.]

Now then... Have you any inkling as to how you arrived here? Or came to be in that state? [Actually he only arrived at the tail end of it... so he doesn't actually know how the others found him.]

[He's at least used to craning his neck upwards, constantly surrounded by elezens and hyurs, but the stilts make him tower even above them.]

My memory is admittedly a little fuzzy, but...

[He puts a hand to his chin as he thinks.]

I recall a voice, telling me "now it's up to you".

Hmmm... [He taps at the chin of his mask-- not very informative, is it? But unfortunately, such is the nature of things that happen while you sleep.]

I suppose we shall find out soon. In any case, my dear new friend, how are your limbs? It took us an ordeal to arrive here, it may take us the same to leave.

[Yeah, the cryptic nature of summoning is a bit frustrating, but he's sure they can figure it out!! At least it seems like he's 100% and it's not just his soul...

He does pat himself down and do a bit of stretching, before glancing around and oicking up a staff that's not too far from where he was sleeping. He's glad that came in with him...]

I feel fighting fit, thankfully. Though...

[He pauses.]

This place feels strange, as if there's no aether?

[A head tilt and a twitch of his hood's ears show his confusion.]

Aether? [He's trying that word out. Never heard of it-- ether, yes, but aether?]

What do you mean?

Aether is what all living things are made of, and the manipulation of aether can cause various effects, forming the building blocks of all magics.

Though not all stars call it the same thing, and there are other forms of unseeable energy out there, it could be entirely possible it's not a concept you are familiar with or that is relevant to a place such as this.

[Actually, wait, that is interesting.]

If aether is the foundation of life and magic... then should it not be present? Otherwise, you and I would be quite dead by now and... [He raises a clawed hand and flexes his fingers.] I am assuredly alive.

Perhaps you're still adjusting to this new world, or you've not completely woken up yet. [Or maybe it's just a side effect of being in this strangr space.]

It should be, and it's possible it is but hard to sense with everything going on right now...

[They're definitely still alive! So what gives?

[Now he straightens up, and stretches.]

Yes, it... probably is best we head out of here. This chill is... quite bracing.

[His poor ears are quite sensitive...]

Ah, yes, we are in the Northern Country, the coldest place in the world. Heheh.

Are you familiar with warming spells?

No, I can't say that I've much experience with that, but it sounds so much more convenient than simply relying on coats and heaters to keep warm.

[He's going to have to figure that out ASAP even if he has little reason to hang out in the cold...]

Unfortunately, I've no need for such things, so I don't know a spell.

[He looks over at the others, and then gives a nod.]
