[ No, probably not. After seeing tidbits of Jing Yuan in action, he may actually feel bad for the guy. ]
Forget that shit. We don't have hours.
[ Which is exactly why they have to hoof it. Taking your time is one thing, but a Giant Mech hellbent on destruction is not exactly something he'd imagine would take it's time.
...That's easier said than done, though. Ugh. Why can't they make these places smaller and less of a pain in the ass to navigate.
After another turn of nothing, Shinjiro resists the urge to growl. Ok, taking way too long. There's a pause, a deep breathe, before he finally closes his eyes. If it's in here somewhere, maybe if he reaches out a little, he can get a proper sense of it? Something stronger than the faint pings they've been getting thus far.
This was, apparently, the right choice (16), because there's a definitive tug to the left. Not one to take his chances, he hurries to peer around the corner, letting his shoulders relax once they can see the faintest glimmer of blue carrying on at the end of the hallway. ]
[ Jing Yuan certainly doesn't want to take that long either, so it's funny that he gives a nod at Shinjiro's initial words.
The hours timeline is just certainly to cover themselves, but all the same, the quicker the better.
That being said, between the two of them Jing Yuan is certainly the more patient and cooler head by far. But, fortunately, Shinjiro reaches out for the ping and the General sees it too; the unmistakable glint of blue magical light. ]
Certainly so. Let's get this wrapped up once and for all.
Jing Yuan breaks into a quick run up ahead, closing the distance between what is surely the last barrier between them and the fragment. Except there is something in front of the door. Four guards (4) who are standing around there as a true final bastion of security.
Two posted at the door, and the other two standing some ways away from door, but still very close to the other two. ]
I'll knock out two of them. Take care of the others, Shinjiro.
Or not. We can always improvise a getaway at the least.
[ As for Jing Yuan, his immediate thought on handling enemies is violence, and also because they are indeed pressed for time. Jing Yuan is merciless in the way electricity shoots out to shock two of them at the door, rendering them unconscious (12), and he rams the door hard enough to get it to fly off of its hinges.
The other two certainly notice something is wrong, but are confused thanks to the audio and visual illusion keeping up. They are also simultaneously startled and kind of slightly petrified to the point that they don't think of immediately calling for help (10) ]
[ It's a bit surreal watching that usually-jovial face do a 180, but it's nice to watch him get serious. Not that he had much doubts he would; he's got his complaints about the old man, but he can't say he's not dependable, either.
The sound of their feet darting across the hardwood floor is for their ears only, thread growing stronger and brighter as they cut the distance. He's not surprised there's more obstacles, but it doesn't stop him from grimacing all the same. ]
Screw it, let's kick some ass.
[ They're in the way, and they've wasted enough time.
Jing Yuan can use magical violence, but Shinjiro prefers to do things the old fashioned way; the physical sort.
Distracted enough by the abrupt onslaught and loud crash of wood flying off it's hinges, Guard No.1 doesn't stand a chance against the hand that abruptly fists in his shirt, barely registering the fact he's apparently getting yoinked by thin air before something hard and bone-solid slams right into his skull (13).
He hits the floor with a suitable thunk, seconds before the other guy manages to shake himself out of it....a few seconds too late, as Guard No.2 soon experiences the oddly familiar sensation of knuckles colliding with his face (14). Combine that with the wall at his back, and when he slides down, it's while being down for the count.
When Shinjiro finally steps in view of the door, he's giving his neck a proper crack, flexing his fingers. His forehead might bruise after that headbutt, but whatever. Wouldn't be the first. ]
Jing Yuan and Shinjiro make quick work of those Mobs for sure. The General in question glad the other male can follow his lead well enough in slugging people in the face...the headbutting kind of being different but he isn't going to necessarily fault him for that either (not that he turned around in time to see it.)
Either way, he stalks into the room proper as the bodies brutally (soundly) hit the floor (unconscious), blue light shining unerringly effervescent as his (their) eyes land upon the sapphire-like gem.
All liabilities and distractions removed from the chessboard, Jing Yuan pulls on it, levitating the jewel with ease on over to him like he does with his scrolls back home (or himself.)
Just like that, his fingers curl around its grasp, and his lips curl upwards. ]
...Objective completed.
Let us depart.
[ Government buildings mean that there are windows and simply walking all the way back is a pain in the ass — so he just forces a window open, tearing apart the structure in its entirety before he just defenestrates himself to land on a broom.
Perhaps he's been hanging with too much of the North crowd (heh), but there is a sizeable hole for Shinji to follow him now!! ]

There. It's gotta be getting closer, now.
