FULL MOON CODA

The moon wanes, and retreats into the sky.

After a quick chat and a vote, the otherworldly wizards, their mentor, and their sage decide to hand Victor over to the Central government—to the young wizard who appeared later in the ordeal. As both a sage's wizard and Crown Prince to the Central throne, Prince Arthur is the ideal person to understand both the discriminatory behavior driving Victor against wizards and the political ramifications of his actions, both past and planned. He pledges to you to make sure that, even if you aren't around to see it, Victor pays for what he's done and then some, while respecting Tatara's wishes to avoid bloodshed. He'll manage his case, while making sure his uncle, Vincent, does not have too much sway, due to his relationship with the West. Ultimately, he'll be locked up for life, put to hard labor, and made sure his intelligence is not misused.

When the sun rises, everyone gets to work repairing the manor. The damage is pretty bad but not unsalvageable, and it's made a lot easier with the help of some of the other original wizards who trickle in as the day begins. So long as it hasn't been burnt into absolutely nothing, it's salvageable—hopefully your figurines are safe!

For the first time since you arrived in this world, things feel stable. The brittleness in the air is no longer there, and there's a serenity to the breeze and the sky. It's comfortable. As the previous sage and sage's wizards begin to go about their business as usual, they mention anomalies and other odd incidents they must take care of around the world, but it is nothing like what you initially remember. This is no longer a world a hair's breadth away from falling apart, and you fixed it.

Whether you noticed it in the chaos of the final fight, or you hear it from someone else, or you notice on your own in the days that follow, you will realize that your sage crest is gone. With the other wizards in place again, your job here is done. Quite literally. You are no longer obligated to Tatara or to this world. All that's left is to go home.

A day and time is chosen for the ritual, and you have a few days after the final battle before the ritual is ready. This would be a good time to wrap up loose ends before you go, perhaps for good.

And when the ritual is ready, you'll know.

... Very well. [They'll just go around and around with this, so he'll concede the point.]

I assume you're leaving with Khun.

[ Said with joy and pride! ]

What about you?

[ Where are you going? ]

[leewards]

I will be with Urianger. There is no other place for me. [When he got a taste of freedom, of a lively world and people who knew him, he knew he couldn't go back to being alone.]

[1145pm]

[ Tatara chuckles. ]

I'm glad. [ That he's going with Urianger. His smile is bright, and satisfied. ]

I'm glad you found each other.

[leewards]

[Ithaqua gives a nod.]

I'm looking forward to his world.

Though... if we hadn't found each other, I would have stayed here, and seen you all off.

[1145pm]

But I think people always have a way of finding each other. [ He's not looking at Khun, but he's obviously thinking about him. It shows in his smile. ] Maybe you were never meant to stay here.

I guess where you came from isn't an option anymore.

[leewards]

[Never meant to stay here? What, like fate? Ithaqua doesn't believe in such a thing... so he shakes his head at both that, and at Tatara's statement.]

No, I can no longer return there. Rather, I do not wish to. [He'd been willing to return just once, just to get his mother and then leave immediately.] Living here has made me see an entirely different world full of magic, of people like myself, that I cannot live in one that actively hates what I am. That I cannot bear with the solitude that I will have to live with if I insisted on staying there.

[1145pm]

[ Ithaqua keeps talking, and it eventually clicks in a different way for Tatara. An even wider smile bursts across his face, and he leans forward a little. ]

Happiness is addicting, isn't it?

[ So really, he doesn't blame him. Who'd go back to that after learning what companionship is? ]

I know you'll be happy with him, and where he comes from.

[leewards]

Happiness, is it? [Ithaqua was thinking more along the lines of freedom, but Tatara makes him think. He doesn't understand how he came to that conclusion... but he'll mull on it.]

I am indeed happy with him, but what makes you say it's happiness, what I feel being in this world in the first place?

[1145pm]

I don't know. Didn't you say it yourself? [ He tilts his head. ] Companionship and learning you have value to other people brings a fulfilment that's hard to find elsewhere. Isn't that part of happiness, knowing you have people?

[leewards]

[Ithaqua has to shake his head.]

No, I don't believe it is. The people are unimportant to me, except for him. I believe it's more of the realization that I'd been keeping myself in the dark for too long, before being forced to realize there are whole worlds out there that I need not fight for a place in.

[Which is to say, it's more like a sense of freedom.]
