[ You know what looks cool? Dragons. And guess who just turned into a dragon? Robin. Hm. Hmmmmmm. Let's see.
Yamato decides to take his chances and copy that transformation. He fully expects to become a cool feathery dragon like Robingrima. While the magic does work, he ends up looking...well...
He is a green baby dragon! He's got some feathery texture on him, much like Grima, but this sure wasn't what he thought he'd look like. Whatever!! He can still be cool as he flies up to the mech with his itty bitty wings -]
OI, JACKASS! TAKE THIS!
[ His voice sounds like he's inhaled helium.
He swings his small, chonky tail and smacks the mech on its damaged leg (11). The transformation breaks seconds after the Smack and he's just some guy again.
Hm. That's not good. He sure is falling and making the owaaaauuuhhh sound Kiryu makes. ]
[are y'all, like, good? this is a lot of monologuing going on right now
Whatever reply the man in the mech has gets cut off once Ginger's charm settles over him, the man just barely unable to resist it. He's right, this is incredibly dangerous... but even charmed, the man isn't suicidal enough to exit the mech right there and then. The mech begins to drift downwards slowly, rocking and shaking with each hit it takes. It's not a graceful descent, but the man is so preoccupied with his survival he doesn't move to attack this round. The mech seems like it's getting worse for wear, but it's still trucking along... and it's not clear how long Ginger's charm will influence the man.
Unfortunately, there's still others out in the world with unfinished business, so there's not a chance to finish the mech off once and for all. Solomon and Ithaqua might recognize the figures on the horizon, astride on brooms and coming from the North...
Ah, right.
They didn't kill all of the Northern wizards when they had the chance, simply fleeing and teleporting away. It took some time to track their magical signatures back down, but there are now three wizards joining the fray. Two of them fire off spells that miss entirely, but the third strikes Solomon with a bolt of lighting (20).]
Well, well, well. Seems like there's quite a party going on, huh? This might be an even bigger bounty than we thought!
[ uh, excuse you, random wizards, how about no? In the midst of healing, Bruno's eyes flash green, and he jerks around toward the incoming wizards before they even start throwing spells. ]
Solomon, look out! Su futuro espera!
[ Bruno reaches out with his own magic, summoning up a shield around the sorcerer to avoid that inevitable fate of electrocution (aka that roll is now a 3, thx). ]
He can sense Bruno's magic from a mile away at this point, though, so he will at least put a finger to his lips as he glances down at Bruno. Thank you but please stay safe sir...]
[We (don't) love to see it (we do love to see Bruno coming in with a clutch save, though!). Phil has no idea who these other wizards are, and frankly he doesn't care at the moment because they're apparently just aggro right off the bat. Unfortunately, most of his offensive spells are the sort meant to be used on targets that are fairly stationary on the ground rather than flying through the air; he opts to sling an Icicle Lance (10) their way, but the barrage of icicles will unfortunately miss their target.
Apparently facing off against fellow Norths gets Ahito back into the groove of combat, because he's able to sling a rain of ice bullets at the wizard who hit would have hit Solomon (11). At least one of the bullets should hit, right?]
Would you rather I have sat and played with them more in the snow on my own for a while? [Bruno saw what happened because of that!] I know when I'm outnumbered!
[ Hooo boy! He'd try to help if he weren't falling from the sky right now. There he goes...he will probably die from this because of how high up they are.
Suddenly, though, tendrils wrap around Yamato and catch him before he can eat shit on the ground (thank you Cid). One of the tendrils ends up tearing part of his shirt open, and he is so shocked that he can't attack (2). RIP. ]
[Oh great, more things to kill! At least people are squishy and will die when lit on fire, so you know what Malice's default response is. He aims at the wizard that attacked Solomon and launches a firebolt (9). Apparently he is still distracted by Yamato's chest window. Whoops.]
[ It's best that they get rid of these new arrivals quickly, so Kurapika focuses on one of the Northern wizards, summoning his chains, muttering a spell to make them longer before swinging them out so that those chains wrap around them, before pulling them down off of their broom so that they slam into the ground below (12). With his outfit passive, he hopes that his increased offensive strength is enough to at least incapacitate them, but...
[Well, Cid's froofy shadowy cloak shot out a tendril in an attempt to stop the fall near him -- the dragon was a good attempt! almost enough to be an honorary West! gotta give props, or like, a shadow hand -- but given that it's on impulse and literally offhand (8) it really only slows down Yamato before he reaches the ground. And RIP to his shirt. But Cid isn't really looking himself, he forgets the height a human can fall from here but surely a wizard will be fine either way.
He's watching the goings-on with the no-longer-quite aerial battle instead, sticking to his broom and circling around... Ah, yes, now they have spare people-shaped mooks! Just what he's been waiting for!! This means he doesn't really need to get involved in the kaiju battle. At least, not directly. It's tough for melee fighters out here.
Instead, once the others have had their go at the hapless Northern wizards (and what a welcome), another long shadow tendril lances out to spear the wizard Ahito and Malice are aiming at (16). And, well, not that Cid knows any of the exposition here -- but when you've got multiple targets, you might as well consolidate them. So the shadow wizard shishkabob whips around and starts wham-bam-slammin' the speared wizard onto the mech (15) because?? Hit two birds with one shadow??
Hope our resident mech pilot (licenseless) enjoys having shitty northern wizard face flattened against his windshields whenever he regains visibility. ☆]
[That's all that makes it out of his mouth before the lightning smashes into him, alerting the panic of many... and somehow he's totally fine? Damn. Thanks Bruno. :')
He's back on his broom, and though his own lightingbolt goes sailing wide (4), his demeanor doesn't change.]
You really are a stubborn lot, coming out this far for one little prize. Should we pick up our little game again?
[ o guiding wind passing between heaven and earth, tear apart the power of corrupted darkness...
honestly, where are these pests coming from? pity his very presence doesn't call storms into being here, but the fact remains that he knows them, and even improvised a little one of their own with ithaqua not a few days prior, so therefore, since everyone seems to be happy to throw lightning around...
o children of holy lightning, born of the black thunder god, roar your indignation and rain judgment upon this foreign land...
the dragon still circling around the combatants lets out another roar, bolts of violet lightning striking down at the various targets presented to them (whether mech or newly arrived wizards) from the dark clouds that seem to have gathered above (18). the sky is rumbling... ]
[ Oh, just what they needed, more company. Day attempts to bless Solomon to let him dodge easier, but maybe trying to give Solomon good luck right after a stroke of manipulated felicity isn't a good idea, since it doesn't seem to do much (3). ]
Seriously, y'all decide to show up now?
[ Why are Northern wizards like this.
Day swoops down to where Yodarha has crash landed heal him up. ]
( Mika will stay free of Ginger for now, but sticks close to him as implored. He's protecting Ginger as much as he is the old sage, and as much as he wishes he could extend his protection to everyone out there - he cannot. He only has this small fortress, and all he can do is keep it fortified.
Mika closes his eyes to briefly eliminate sight and enhance focus. His senses are unbearably sharp - they can see the battle from the slats here (he let the vines split just wide enough so Ginger can keep the mech within eyeshot), but the vines are an inconvenience. He can hear the scene outside even more acutely, as if he were riding its shoulder on its slow descent; as if he were flying astride with these unwelcome guests; all framed by the crackle of smoldering destruction.
A hand on his focus and murmuring his spell, Mika continues to channel magic into the red-rose-vine barricade covering all walls of the old sage's room. Thou shalt not pass!!! )
[ With a better view he can see the three Northern wizards, though one of them might be too far away. It's still worth a try, he thinks. He hates this, but seeing one of them strike Solomon decides his choice. ]
Tell All One's Heart.
[ His unique spell activates and attempts to enthrall all three wizards (13, 11, 3) as sure and sudden as first lust; it's the most pressing feeling in the world, a need that distracts them all over. ]
[Ithaqua hisses a swear under his throat, because he needs to act fast. He points at the mech, uttering his incantation. The others have the wizards covered, he thinks.]
Respondent omnia silvae!
[Hey guess what? The water on the mech left by Yodarha starts to freeze, but especially around the joints (19). He hopes this buys an andvantage, or even time. Then he roughly scoops Urianger up into his arms-- sorry dear, but no time to be gentle about this.
He's always been pale, but now Ithaqua looks practically grey.]
If anyone needs to leave to recuperate, follow me.
[ The concerted efforts to greet the uninvited guests with an appropriate Northern greeting pays off. Kurapika grounds them all, making them easier targets, Cid appropriately skewers two, and Ginger shows off his tits to also attract two of them. Thunder rains from above, courtesy of Robin, and when Ahito shoots one, that one quickly morphs into a beautiful blue-purple crystal, and then promptly shatters into bits. Enjoy the mana stones, everyone!
Two wizards remain. Both remaining wizards are worse for wear. One remains skewered and attracted to Ginger and thus unable to do anything this round. But one is still here. He roars and shoots a beam of fire at Robin, but misses (7).
The mech shudders under the electricity, sparks dancing off its metallic body, now scorched and pockmarked from the continued beating (though still miraculously in tact, it seems!). Its limb freezes in place thanks to Ithaqua, but the pilot manages to shake off the suggestion over him (12). There comes a scream. ]
Stop! Stop! Just die already!
[ He sends out another volley of missiles, but the all sail past the wizards and land haphazardly in the dirt around the manor grounds. The earth shudders, but no one is harmed.
Right afterwards, the little lava lamp of magic annulment shoots out, its lights swirling rapidly. This time it flashes green, blue, and purple in rapid succession, before vanishing back into its compartment.
It picks up on the signatures of Bruno, Yamato, Solomon, Robin, and Mika, and quickly silences them all. All current active and passive effects have been nullified, and they are unable to use magic this turn. ]
[ You know, even Tatara couldn't stick around on the back-back lines after the missile hit the sage's room.
So here he is, running out onto the grass with his two human feet. He scarcely pays the Northern wizards or the mech any mind, instead looking around at the carnage and rubble and the state all his wizards are in. ]
Are you guys okay?!
[ Tatara joins the fray, for some reason? He's here to give boosts if needed— ]
